Stories about CLE’s Christmas Story House
Brian Jones had loved A Christmas Story since childhood, inspiring him to start a business reproducing the legendary leg lamps from the film so that fans all over the world could receive their very own “Major Award.” But in 2004, the ongoing relationship between Jones and his favorite film took on a whole new meaning when he purchased the infamous little house on Cleveland Street. Since opening on Thanksgiving weekend in 2006, over 1 million people have toured A Christmas Story House & Museum, making it a top tourist and pop culture destination in Cleveland.
Brian Jones Bio
The path that has led Brian Jones from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis to “that little house on Cleveland Street” is a result of his love for his favorite movie, A Christmas Story. On Nov. 25, 2006, the ongoing relationship between Jones and his favorite film took on a whole new meaning with the opening of A Christmas Story House & Museum.
A Christmas Story House takes visitors on a nostalgic journey to the sights and scenes of the classic Christmas film. In addition to A Christmas Story House, visitors can explore the museum and gift shop where original costumes, props and other items from the movie are on display, more than 100 behind-the-scenes photos are featured and movie-related memorabilia can be purchased.
Though he makes periodic trips to Cleveland, Jones lives in Jacksonville, Florida, with his wife, two kids, two dogs, and a cat.
The goal of the Cleveland Stories Dinner Party is to bring to life some of the fun, interesting stories about Cleveland’s past – from sports, to rock ‘n roll, to Millionaire’s Row, — the series will focus on tidbits from Cleveland’s past that will really thrill the audience. The Music Box is presenting this series in partnership with the Western Reserve Historical Society’s new Cleveland History Center. We think the Cleveland History Center is one of the most important museums in Cleveland. An unknown gem that Clevelanders should know more about, and support. It is the only museum in Cleveland dedicated to preserving and documenting the history of Cleveland. The Cleveland History Center includes two mansions, the Crawford Auto Aviation Museum, Chisholm Halle Costume Wing, Research Library, Kidzibits Hands-On Gallery, rotating exhibitions, and the Euclid Beach Park Grand Carousel.
