Neighborhood Revitalization: Can Planting Flowers Revitalize a Neighborhood?

A neighborhood with flowers, thoughtful gardening, and neat landscaping surely creates a beautiful place for people to admire, and helps our natural habitat thrive, but what if planting flowers and gardening served people beyond its beauty? On July 16, FutureHeights will host a panel of speakers that will discuss the macro level social implications that gardening, planting flowers, and beautification can have on a neighborhood, or in some cases, an entire community. The forum will host a panel of speakers that consider questions such as: Can planting flowers revitalize a  neighborhood? What positive impacts have other communities seen as a result of thoughtful and deliberate beautification? Can gardening help alleviate crime and safety concerns? What message does thoughtful and thorough gardening and beautification send to people outside of that neighborhood or community? What are exciting local examples of gardening for neighborhood revitalization in the community? FutureHeights invites all members of our community to attend this free event on Tuesday, July 16, 7pm at The BottleHouse Brewing Company, 2050 Lee Road.
