      Featuring: Eric Everett-drums, David Thomas-piano, Reggie Redd-sax, Brian Gaudino-guitar, & Jeff Slater-bass.

      Featured Vocalists: Charlene Smythe, Nancy Redd, & Michele Edwards.

      For "Ladies of the Torch", these tremendous vocalists have selected songs by artists that inspire them such as Sarah Vaughn, Dinah Washington, Roberta Flack, Diana Krall, and Diane Schuur.

       

      Michele Edwards is a jazz songstress with smooth and sultry vocals that are sure to enter the mind, elevate the soul and leave you wanting more. A veteran vocalist who has extensive theatrical experience at Severance Hall, Playhouse Square and Karamu House, she has traveled internationally as a gospel vocalist.

       

      Nancy Redd has opened for several Grammy Artists including the Four Tops, Solomon Burke, Jennifer Holiday and Legend Ronnie Laws.  In addition to vocals, Nancy is an acclaimed flautist. She is no stranger to Cleveland jazz aficionados, and for years has held a monthly gig at The Brother's Lounge with her band, The Sounds of Jazz.

       

      Charlene Smythe is an accomplished vocalist, returning to Cleveland from San Francisco where she toured with Melvin Seals and JGB. She has backup vocal credentials with Motown Records. Since returning to Cleveland, Charlene has performed with Alan Greene, Ernie Krivda, Butch Armstrong Band and Reginald Redd.

       

      Eric Everett, leader, has nearly four decades of drumming experience, studying at Baldwin-Wallace with Dr. George Kiteley, and performing in CWRU’s small group Jazz and Big Band ensembles under Director Paul Ferguson. Eric was a member of two popular Cleveland 90's bands, Public Library and Five Minutes Fast. Eric Everett Jazz has steadily gained popularity in the greater Cleveland area since its inception in 2011. Eric is also a writer for Drum! and DrumHead Magazine.

       

      David Thomas, was an original member of the R&B group, “Sweet Thunder.” He has also performed with numerous artists including James Cleveland, Dizzie Gillespie, Albert Ayler, Jean Carre, David Ruffin, and Grover Washington. His musical involvement also includes musical theater as a writer, performer, and musical director. He is a gifted educator having worked at The Cleveland School of the Arts, Tri-C, Cleveland State Univ, CWRU, Cleveland School District, The Southeast Seventh Day Adventist, and St. Timothy Baptist Church.

       

      Brian Gaudino is the Director of Education for the Cleveland Classical Guitar Society. Brian has taught guitar at levels from beginners to undergraduate guitar majors. Brian was a faculty member at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette. Brian earned first place at the UL Lafayette Friends of Music Classical Guitar. This June, Brian performed at Carnegie Hall and travelled to France as a member of the US Guitar Orchestra.

       

      Jeff Slater earned his Bachelor's of Music in music theory and French horn at Baldwin-Wallace and did master's work in classical and jazz music theory at the University of Wisconsin at Madison and Truman State University.
