      Bridges Out of Poverty (Cleveland 2.13.2019)

      This workshop is a comprehensive approach to understanding the dynamics that cause and maintain poverty from the individual to the systematic level. Bridges Out of Poverty uses the lens of economic class and provides concrete tools and strategies for a community to prevent, reduce, and alleviate poverty. The workshop will increase awareness of the differences in economic cultures and how those differences affect opportunities for success.  The objectives for this workshop include:  Develop an accurate model of generational poverty and explore the impact of poverty on those served by organizations. Review research on the causes of poverty. Explore the hidden rules of economic class. Examine the impact of poverty on family structures. Explore registers of language, discourse patterns, and cognitive issues. Define poverty in terms of the resources needed for a stable life. Identify ways in which the information can be used to improve relationships and outcomes: individual, organizational, and community. Target Audience:     Residential Facility Class 2 Providers, Recovery Housisng Providers, Permanent      Supported Housing Providers. Continuing Education Units (CEU's): 5 hours of Continuing Education Units for Social Workers, Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists, Psychologists, and RN and LPN's.  OhioMHAS Continuing Education Committee is an approved provider of Continuing Education for RNs and LPNs for the Ohio Board of Nursing. OhioMHAS has been approved as a provider of Continuing Professional Education credit by the Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapist Board.   OhioMHAS is approved by OPA-MCE to offer continuing education for Psychologists. OhioMHAS has been approved by the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board as a provider of Continuing Education Units. This program is approved for the following content area/s: P6 - 5.0 hours Date/Time:     February 13, 2019 from 9:30 AM - 4:30PM.  Registration begins at 9:15 AM.
